Registration for a kinder place in Darebin
All applications for Balit Community Kindergarten are managed by Darebin Council Kindergarten and Child Care Registration Team. The council operates a registration waiting list on behalf of all community-managed funded three and four year old kindergarten programs within the municipality.
To contact the Kindergarten and Childcare Registration System Team:
Registrations are open from 1 March to 30 June in the year prior to attendance. Registrations received before 30 June will be given priority. Registrations received after 30 June will be processed after those which are received during the stated registration period.
Families will receive an acknowledgement letter of their application within 15 working days. If you’ve registered with the portal, you’ll also get a copy of your registration form instantly. It is your responsibility to contact the Kindergarten and Childcare Registration System Team if you have not received an acknowledgment letter within this time frame.

No Jab No Play
In January 2016, the Victorian Government introduced the No Jab, No Play law which requires all Victorian children to be age-appropriately immunised before enrolment in an early childhood service can be confirmed.
Darebin Council offers a place at a kindergarten through the central enrolment system, however, you should note that this offer and your acceptance of the offer will not mean that your child’s enrolment is confirmed. Enrolment will only be confirmed once immunisation documentation has been received, assessed and found acceptable by the service at which the place has been offered.
For enquiries about immunisation or appointment bookings:
For immunisation-related medical enquiries: call (03) 8470 8562 or 0419 765 230 (Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm)
Further information about immunisation requirements for enrolment in early childhood services, including information on how to obtain the required documentation, is available on the Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel website. Early childhood services can also provide families with a brochure explaining the requirements and how you can meet them.
